Workflow Process Does Not Execute on Record Field Change

I have created a real-time workflow process on our contact entity that should autofill about 10 fields from the company entity when the user selects or changes the primary company field. We are using CRM online, and the workflow checkbox- record field change- does not start the workflow unless we 1) choose the company and then we 2) save the contact record. Only then do the fields update- on save, not change. The workflow is organization scope, real-time, and activated. Any ideas?

Hi, workflows are server-side processes, so, they are executed only when the record is going to be saved.

If you want to fulfill those fields on primary company changes you must you Javascript which runs on field change.
