how to hide "children" within a reporting tree when you run the report - management reporter

Hi, I recently had to change the reporting tree in our P&L in a way that a parent holds two children. is there a way so when I run management reporter and I go to the tree to select a department (parent) I only see the parent and not the children under it?

I tried using NP for page options, in all the children but they still show  in the reporting tree once I create the report, but they show grayed out so you can't select the children.

In the example below, I have a parent and the two children, once I run the report in management reporter, I only want to see ARL (Full year) which is a sum of the two, and not the children. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

ARL (Full year)

ARL (Jan-Jun)

ARL (Jul-Dec)
