How to import prict list elements into an existing price list? (Dyn365)

Hi folks,

I've been looking for a way to import new price list elements into a new (yet empty) price list.

Looking around I found that this question had been answered before posting this link: https://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/crm/content/RC/2011/en-us/online/5.1_CTP/importpricelist.aspx.  Apparently the software has changed so much that basically no step still works as written in the tutorial.

So, do you guys know if there is a way to import those elements in the newest Version of dyn365 online?

That would make my day! (6000 items to go...)

all the best,

Sabine

You should be able to use my app to import multiple price list items which you have defined in a CSV file

The installer can be downloaded here https://github.com/josephmcmac/XRM-Developer-Tool/releases

You would first have to configure a connection to your CRM instance which I have document here https://josephmcmac.wordpress.com/2017/12/20/josephm-dynamics-365-dev-app-configure-connection/

After connecting the app contains a menu group named "Deployment" with a menu option "Import Csvs". In this dialog you can select CSV files to import into the system

Price List Items being a special case you would need to ensure that the option "Match Existing Records By Name When Importing" is not ticked

This screenshot shows the dialog form

The CSV file itself needs to be named "Price List Item.csv" and contain the following column names Price List,Product,Unit Schedule ID,Unit,Quantity Selling Option,Pricing Method,Amount

This assumes the type and field labels have not been renamed in dynamics. Otherwise you could use the logical/schema name

This screenshot shows an example CSV with one price list item row

    Hope this helps

    Hi Joseph,

thank you for your help! After the safety check, I just installed the app and started it. But I'm afraid I can't do anything with that program since whatever button  I click the program crashes. :-( I'm using Win10  with all the updates. Do you know anything about those crashes?

    regards,

    Sabine

    Hi Sabine

Oh - doesn't happen for me - it may be that you don't have windows identity foundation turned on on your machine. It uses WIF assemblies to authenticate. This article outlines how to turn it on in windows 10

    dynamicsofdynamicscrm.com/.../quick-tipenabling-windows-identity-foundation-on-windows-10-machines

Otherwise if that does not work maybe check the event viewer for any details. If any of the runtime fails it should log  details to  event viewer. If there are any relevant details maybe post an issue here github.com/.../new and I will take a look

If I cannot replicate it on my machine though it may be difficult to diagnose the course. If you have visual studio you could always pull the code and run it on your machine to try determine why it crashes
