I have an item which was purchased as a PC but should in fact be defined as a PACK. I can not change the UOM because a ledger entry exists which I understand. Just wondering what my options are here?
Thank you
Hi.
The assembly order creates the consumption and output of two items.
But it can be used for the same item. For example, if you need to rework an item bought in packs of 6 into boxes of 9.
This is the process:
1. Create a new assembly order
2. Add the item with the correct unit of measure in the header (the output)
3. Add the same item in the lines. Ensure to put the "incorrect" unit of measure in the lines
4. Fill the field Apply-To Item entry to get the correct Item Ledger Entry to fix.
4. Verify and update the cost if necessary.
Posting the assembly order will create an output of the same item but with the correct unit of measure. Also, it will consume the item with the incorrect UoM.
All your costing will match and, if you have serial or batch numbers, you will also maintain traceability.
Hope it helps.
Hello Alfredo.
could you pls elaborate more about the assembly order and what all the situations we use pls
If the item was received with an incorrect unit of measure, it makes sense to post a purchase return and receive it again with the correct code.
Alternatively, if you have invoiced already and don't want to deal with a purchase credit memo, you can use an assembly order.
Your order will consume the quantity with the incorrect unit of measure and create the output for the correct one.
Hi
i think you can make a purchase return of that item and it will make the inventory '0'. then you can change the UOM and we can set purchase unit of measure in Pc also.
Hi Andreea,
As i can see it you basically have two options. Either you can create a new item with the correct UOM or you can keep the item no. and define a item unit of measure for the unit of pack
docs.microsoft.com/.../inventory-how-setup-units-of-measure
Your partner can probably also help you with some workaround, but they require some care and caution when they are processed.
If there is not too much history on the item no. i think you are better off creating a new one.
