Upgrade Path from AX 2009 to AX 2012

Dear Team,

Kindly let me know whether Direct upgrade is possible from Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 + GLS_CONS  + RU-6 to Dynamics AX 2012 CU10?

Do we need to do In-place upgrade from RU6 to RU8 before direct upgrade?

    Hi Divya,

    You can read all the steps and requirements in the AX 2012 Upgrade guide. There is no need to upgrade your AX2009 version to the latest CU.

    Thanks for your valuable reply..

    In the provided upgrade guide, Source to target says that Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 + GLS_CONS  + RU-6 to Dynamics AX 2012 CU10 is not possible...and it requires in-place upgrade.

    So I preferred the path to upgrade from RU6 to RU8 then to AX 2012 CU10...

    Do you have any doc regarding in-place upgrade for AX2009?

    If any doc related to Rollup upgrade in AX2009,Kindly do share.

    In-place upgrade is used for upgrade from AX 2012; it's not relevant to AX 2009. Look here for information about RU8 for AX 2009 SP1.

    I misused the terms (In-place upgrade). Sorry for that...

    One more doubt is if I install RU8 on RU6,then do I need to upgrade data also? Is it required? What about data if the version got updated?

    I'm going to do this for the first time. So Kindly guide where I'm wrong.

    Hi Divya,

    If you want to upgrade from RU6 to RU8 you also have to use the data upgrade cockpit.

     But tell me the reason y should I need to do data upgrade for RU6 to RU8 ,As I'm gonna upgrade to AX2012 CU10 again, y can't I perform data upgrade alone from RU6 to 2012 directly..

    i.e..

    Steps I follow: tell me what is wrong here and y..

    I want to upgrade from RU6 to AX2012 CU10 so i'm following below steps.

    1. Code Upgrade from RU6 to RU8

    2. Code  upgrade from RU8 to AX 2012 CU10

    3. Data upgrade from RU6 to AX2012 CU10

    From above I,m skipping data upgrade step ..Tell me y should I not to do that?
