F&O virtual entities for Power-BI via Dataverse-connector?

Is it possible to use Dataverse-connector to load F&O data from Dataverse? I have published few entities, but all I see with the connector are CE-related tables(ms_dyn).

    Hi @Migi

The Dataverse connector doesn't support virtual entities, I'm not sure why but I suspect it is due to reporting focus being via Fabric/Synapse link.

There is a workaround for now, you can use the legacy Dataverse connector:

Here it is connected to some Contoso data:

    Thanks,
    Anthony

    Hi Migi,

It should be possible to use the F&O entities in case they are enabled as virtual table. I'm using it regularly and posted a blog post about the differences of Dataverse and the Fin & Ops connectors. Today, I also worked on a Power Automate flow using virtual tables from F&O via the Dataverse connector.

Hi and thank you both for answering.
    1. I noticed Common Data Service(legacy) works with virtual entities, but it doesn't support direct query. Dataverse -connector supports direct query.
    2. Andre, I guess Power Platform connectors work better than the ones in Power-BI - unfortunately.

    Hi Migi,

The Common Data Service (legacy) does not support direct query because the connector runs everytime in a scheduled manner and it either pulls or pushes data into the dataverse tables.
Dataverse connector does supports real-time data because all the entities and the table reside in the dataverse.

The connector for D365 F&O is deprecated. The connectors for delete and updating records no longer exists, however the connector "when record is created" exists in deprecated state.
When a record is created still exists but is marked as deprecated. The D365 FO connectors are all based on business events if you are looking to load data into Dataverse through Power Automate flows.

The recommendation is to use Azure Synapse Link and then link the tables with Fabric. Plus, it is easier to manage the tables within Azure Synapse link components. You can refer to the github documentation for setting up the Synapse Link for Fabric or Azure Synapse Link with D365 F&O. Ensure your F&O version is on 10.0.37.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.

    Hi @Migi

Have you considered trying the OData connector?

    Connect to <CRM URL>api/data/v9.2

    mserp_ are available:

You still wont have direct query as it's really not a data warehouse, so maybe synapse link is the answer. But it is another supported option to connect.

Yes, Odata was one of the options, but surely it didn't support direct query either. I hope they can live with the data update delay that happens with the Fabric link. Thanks all for the replies.
