 Hello All,

Q.1 I want to know if the button gets added at Entity level or Form level by Ribbon Workbench?

Q.2 I have added set of buttons in one solution and another set of buttons in another solution by another publisher. If I uninstall one solution should the buttons included in the solution gets removed? should it also get buttons from another solution get removed?

Q. 3 I have a CRM environment of a client, where sometimes our buttons added by our unmanaged solutions gets removed (though other customization stays) and none of us know the reason.

Can anyone guide how can it be possible?

A1. You can add buttons at entity level and form level by robbon workbench.

    Refer this:

    https://ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/71374-1-getting-started-with-the-ribbon-workbench

A2. Buttons in solutions are not dependent on Publisher. If solution is managed then only component get removed on removing the solution. If solution is unmanaged the component become part of Default solution hence remove it won't have any effect.

    Refer this:

    https://crmbusiness.wordpress.com/2014/03/31/crm-2013-overview-of-solutions/

A3. May be the buttons are hidden by using another solution.

Homepage – Tabs that are displayed in the main CRM application screens.

Form – Tabs displayed when a specific record form is opened.

SubGrid – Tabs shown when a list view is selected on a specific record form.

I had the same problem. I wanted a custom button to I created using ribbon workbench to only appear on one form, not all the forms on the entity.

To do this, create the button as normal and then export the entity in an unmanaged solution. Unzip and open the customizations.xml. Fine the new custom button code in the ribbondiff section of the XMl. Cut the whole section and add it into the XML for the specific form you want it to appear on, just below the <hiddencontrols> section.

Save the customizations.xml, rezip and re-import.

It's pretty fiddly, but it does work.

my main concern is to know the answer of my Q.3.

And my need is not to show button for specific form, My buttons needs to show across all the forms of the entity. There are another solution on the CRM server from another publisher. Apparently no one is removing my buttons but not sure how buttons gets disappeared from the form and then I have to create the buttons all again.

anyone? any hint? I need to get solution to this as I have recreated the buttons at-least 4-5 times and I have to get clear what's happening and what is wrong.

    Thanks

You should Publish your solution before adding it to Ribbon Work Bench. I think someone else is also publishing at the same time when you are creating the buttons using Ribbon WorkBench
