Capturing Opportunity Close Description

Hi,

I want to build a workflow that emails opportunity close description but it seems there is no way of doing that except for a plug-in solution.

Is there a way for this I can use without any coding?

    Yes. The opportunity close is an activity so you can't do this as described. However, you can write a report using the report wizard (no custom code) to show this data.

    On the wizard, you will need to choose Opportunity for the Primary Entity and Opportunity Close Activities (Opportunity) for the related record type. You can group on an Opportunity field like the Topic, then show the Opportunity Close Description as one of the columns in the report. The report can then be emailed as required.

    Thanks for your answer Mohammed,

    Your solution wouldn't work in my case because I want to email the opportunity close description every time an opportunity is closed. So I need to be able to send the specific description regarding recently closed opportunity. Do you think there is a way to do that?

    Hi Cemal

    Can you not write a plugin for this at all? If not, have you considered using an add-on to achieve this without code? You could look at North 52 add-on which can help you write script like formulas to achieve what custom code can achieve. Alternatively, you can build a "plugin like" workflows using Scribe Insight (on-premise or Online) but this will be like cracking a nut with a sledge hammer!

    Hi, Mohamed.  I am trying to build a report like what you describe above, but I am unable to pull the Description field from the Opportunity Close entity into a column in the results.  The Opportunity Close Activities (Opportunity) is not listed in the related record types when I attempt to Add Columns to my query results.  Have you confirmed that it is there for you?
