My client wants to clean up country records from CRM system and when I take a look there is a lot of wrong and unwanted data.
After lot of analysis the only option I see is, deleting all the country records and import new list.
My question is, is there any standard list of countries some where like from Microsoft or something which I can import?
OR what is standard procedure when custom Country entity is created for CRM, where do you import data from?
note: Deleting previous data would cause problem for existing records that we know but we still want to know the possibility.

Thanks Andrew for your answer but with this approach we will never know if the data is up to date or not right? because I need both country and state data and state names are sometimes changed.

You can create one trial instance and prepare the list which you want by deleting country and export country from there and import to your CRM instance.

There is no best practice for this task. As for me I just google for "CSV Countries List" and pick something from search results and use common sense to choose appropriate source like this - www.searchify.ca/list-of-countries
