Based on the error message ">Transaction totals (tax and discounts) must be calculated before checkout.", it appears that very high chance the system was collecting the invalid customer order mode.
If you still not able to find any obvious error or exceptions after following Juliet's advice to collect the log from LCS, and in case you can consistently reproduce this issue - then I'll suggest you to log a support ticket to Microsoft Support and have us to further investigate the issue for you.

That correlation ID is usually Retail Sever activityId. You may use it as key word to search Commerce Scale Unit logs from LCS, and see what is the real issue behind.
