Advanced Production Scheduling

We are looking at advanced production scheduling in 2012 R2 and are looking for opinions on 3rd party options.  Our operations are primarily light assembly and we will be scheduling people in work cells vs. machine time.  Has anyone gone down this path?

    I've customized the Current operations screen to act as a scheduling board, primarily to allow the balancing of work centers (by adding a drop dialog to the edit in grid form that allows quickly setting the resource) and setting of production priorities.  This can achieve a light version of production scheduling.  Then additional columns can be added to help put like operations together to optimize setup.  Of course this approach probably doesn't lend itself well to constraint management on resources like an engine would do.

    You can do very much in standard. Using resource propert planning, secondary operations, limited properties scheduling and so on...
