I cannot seem to figure out how to add a lead to a marketing list, is this possible?

Yes, you can. To a marketing list is possible to add one of the next member types: leads, accounts or contacts.
The type of the members to add to the marketing list is set on its field 'Target At'. So this Drop Down List must be set with the Lead value in order to add leads.

Thank you! So if you want to send a campaign to leads and contacts you would need 2 separate marketing lists?
Yes, that's it. One for contacts and the other one for leads
