Notify Manager when Sales person passes the deadline of Quote Submission to Customer

Has anyone implemented the above Business case?

I have a field called "Bid Closing On" for opportunity, which I made it mandatory when the Project Status becomes Bidding using a Business Rule.

But how can I track the Actual Submission date for a Quote, I understand users usually communicate their Quotations to Customers using Emails in Outlook.

I need the comparison between the Actual Submission date against the "Bid Closing On" for Opportunity.

could you fire a workflow to trigger when the status of a quote changes to submitted (or what ever status you want to log the date for).

If you created a Submission date field on the quote then you could set this field with the date the status changed

    Hi Samira,

Your worries are true as any Consultant has for implementing the project and has to push users to use CRM for every activity important to recorded in the system. I would suggest you to ask user to use CRM such that mail for Quote is sent from CRM and can create a boolen field on the Email for in case users are manually creating a mail so that the time is stored or you can use Dialog where user can enter the Quote content which will be sent to the user.

    Thank You Ben and Surmeet

Now the Challenge is User may be submitting the Quote when it is already activated. But when the Quote is Active he cant edit it or fill the "Actual Submission Date"

Also, if  I really want the user to fill the Actual Submission date for Quote, I sould make it a mandatory field.

But If I make it mandatory, he will have to enter it at the time of Quote creation itself, but at this time we cannot capture the actual submission date.

    Hi Samira,

For that reason i am saying ask user to send quotation mail from CRM only so that it automatically gets recorded as the created date of email.
