We have two RMS pos systems in our shop we want to add a third system to a different location. Can we operate three pos systems without adding headquarters?

FCASES is correct. The RMS system requires each machine using the same database needs to have a constant connection to the database server. This is why wireless connections is not supported. VPN would not be a supported environment by Microsoft, for use of anything other than the HQ Client reaching out to the HQ Server.
The other points are also good, that since it is not the same location, the inventory would not be easily managed. HQ would be your best bet for a centrally maintained location.
Best Regards,
Shawn with Microsoft Retail Support.
get HQ, VPN is not really good as most VPN will get you high latency (ping etc) and most POS functions pull database queries ( even idling POS pulls SELECT DATE() every second to see if alive.....)
HQ will help you
You can do this by using a VPN connection. Problem is the terminals will share inventory.. Would you not want the new store to have separate inventory?
