Drop-down of fields for events missing fields

Hi all,

I am trying to add an 'OnChange' event to a field on my custom form. However, the drop-down of fields I can attach events to is missing the field I am trying to modify. It is a custom field, included on my form and set to Business Recommended. Why is it not showing in the list? Can I not add an event to that field because it is not required?

Thanks!

Lucien

    Hi

Publish all customizations and try again.

They've been published ages ago. Makes no difference.

If you have already published, you might have to come out of that screen and come back for it to show.

The customisations are old and so is the form by now. To avoid more of these suggestions, let's just say it's an existing form.

Maybe this thread could help you:

You could add the onchange through JavaScript. It also might help you debug the issue.

Thanks. As per the thread my control is also on the header and does not show in the list. I'm really trying to avoid having to add more code (in this case to add the event programmatically) as my brief is to have as little 'customization' as possible.

But it looks like I might have to, although it's funny that I can not find any Microsoft article that states you cannot add events to controls on the header...

Did you try adding that control to the form and hide it there? As suggested in that thread.. It would be a no-code customization.

PS. Just thought of something.. Microsoft is not mentioning it specifically, but, then, onchange events are for the fields.. not for the business process flow "steps" (which are linked to fields, but, technically, it's "steps" vs "fields").

The field is already on the form, albeit in the header. It's not a 'step' either, but just a standard custom field. It will probably show if I move it to the body of the form, but the client does not want it there.

Luckily, we just discovered that they might not need the event after all as the offending field in question is actually supposed to be read-only... :-)

Well, that solves the problem:) but then, again, if you put it in the body of the form and made it hidden there by default, you client would not know the difference, and you might be able to attach events to the field.

You don't have to remove it from the header

    Hello,

Can you try once using field properties.
