Hi ,

We have a new service account created which is used in most of the CRM activities like in power automate flows and integration activities but for this account the MFA is enabled with non expiring password option.

We would like to understand ,if there be any impact/effect on the running activates (all services which runs on this service account ) like if reauthentication required/will they stop working in case of any change in password for the service account in the near future .

If yes - please help us with the impacts and also let us know if we can exclude service account from MFA authentication.

Help would be really Appreciated!

Thanks,

Anchal

If you have set up an account to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to run power automate flows and such, changing your password in the future may affect the flows and cause them to stop working. This is because the flows use connections that rely on your credentials to access the services or systems that you automate.

To prevent this from happening, you should do the following steps after you change your password:

Go to Data > Connections in Power Automate and select the Fix connection link for each connection that uses your account.

Enter your new password and complete the MFA challenge if required.

Test your flows to make sure they work as expected.

Alternatively, you can use conditional access policies in Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to configure the token lifetime settings for your account. This can help you reduce the number of times you have to sign in with MFA and avoid frequent connection failures. However, you should be careful not to use the remember multi-factor authentication setting, as this can make the flow connections expire every 14 days.
