Application Areas

Hello all,

Can anyone briefly explain how Application Areas work in BC please? There is a table "Application Area Setup" (9178) where you can link different "experiences" to specific Profile IDs and/or User IDs, however, I can't find a way to update this table with new records. I could probably do that by using configuration packages but it doesn't sound right.

Am I missing something obvious?
