Posted on by 505

Hi,

I installed GP10 Business Portal application on new machine with existing database following the microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/967083. After installation, it is getting existing company information, users, approval heirarchy and other data properly. But, at some other pages, like "Purchase Request", "Payment by Vendor" it is not displaying the pages and displaying the following errors.

1) The Container specified is invalid.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: Microsoft.Dynamics.InvalidContainerException: The Container specified is invalid.

Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

2) Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

3) System.InvalidOperationException
Cannot convert the AssociatedView, Vendor, to an EntityAlias because a valid parent key cannot be assigned.

I need urgent help in this regard.

    Hello Shakil,

The error "Cannot convert the AssociatedView, Vendor, to an EntityAlias because a valid parent key cannot be assigned." is usually caused by the following:

Note* For item 1 and 2, please see the article support.microsoft.com/.../935228

    1. The server URL for Business Portal has an underscore (_) in it.

Note 2 on the GP 10.0 Web application system requirements states: "The web server computer name cannot contain an underscore(_) "

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../system_requirements_gp10_webapps.htm

    2. Company Containment is not loaded. Make sure on the Business Portal Home page that the Company drop-down lists your companies.

    3. You are using localhost in the web page URL instead of the Machine Name of the IIS server.

The error "Microsoft.Dynamics.InvalidContainerException: The Container specified is invalid.", can be cause if the user is not saved in the Requisition Management setup table. To re-specify the user, try the following:

    1. Go to the Business Portal home page.

    2. Select Site Actions-->Site settings.

    3. Under Business Portal Administration select Users.

    4. Select the user, and modify their role.

    5. Make sure the correct Requisition role is selected and click OK.

    6. Verify if they can access the page.
