Use Help Documentation without having AX2012 installed

Hi,

In AX2012 it is possible to publish Help Documentation to a Help Server. Without having to install a .chm file on each client computer.

Before I created helpfiles (not related to AX) in HelpNDoc which I then saved as a .chm file. It is also a great interface but I'm not allowed to upload .chm files on our SharePoint site any longer which is an issue.

Is it possible to create this type of Help documentation as an offline file or perhaps host it on our SharePoint site?

The thing is that I like the interface in the Help Documentation but I would like to just use the program without using AX.

I write help documentation about general information and thought that this might be an replacement for .chm files.

Below is an example of a .chm file and I want something like this. Do you have any suggestions?

Would it be an idea to create sharepoint pages with your general information? Then it is hosted centrally and other persons can read it using their browser.

I have not used the help without AX in the past. In fact it is an IIS application which possibly could also be accessed using a browser, so you can try it...

I've considered it but really liked the way you can navigate easily and add contents in a seperate help file.

I will look into the Help server deeper, thanks
