Cannot set Contract field during Case creation

Hi,

We are upgrading to CRM 2016 from CRM 2013 and are running CRM 2016 in a test environment right now.

For some reason the Contract and Contract Line fields are locked when I try to create a new case.

The fields get unlocked when I save the case. But in CRM 2013 we were able to specifiy contract and contract lines during case creation time.

This works fine when using Quick Create form just when using the regular case form.

What the field looks like:

Please help. This is very urgent, we plan to do the upgrade very soon.

    Yup. MS support basically said this is "as designed" with no reason as to why this behavior was changed. :(

    They suggested I log a Change request with them.

    I just want a reason why this was changed in CRM 2016. I see absolutely no benefit of having the Contract locked during case creation. Adds unnecessary extra steps.

    I asked in the MS partners forums as well and he tested it on their side and this appears to be intentional (according to him).

    Which to me is unacceptable. Why would they make it like this? I don't see any good reason for it to be only enabled after you save.

    Hello,

    That looks weird for me. In Entity Metadata file I see that fields are available for Create. I would suggest to get in touch with Microsoft and get clarification.
