SSRS: Wrong Paper Size Set When Exporting Landscape Report to Word

Hi,

I've come across a strange problem with SSRS reports when exporting to Word. I have a report which needs to fit onto 1 landscape A4 page. When I preview the report in CRM, it displays correctly and will print without any problems. Similarly, I can also export the report as a PDF and it prints without any problems. However, when I export the report to Word, the Word document Page Size gets set to either "Custom" or "Legal".

I have checked the Report Properties, Body Properties and Margins so I know that these are all correctly set.

The same problem occurs with OOTB reports which were created using the Report Wizard when I try to export them to Word (eg: Products by Contact) if they are exported as Landscape.

Has anyone come across a workaround for this issue?

I'm running CRM 2015 On-Premise (7.0.0.3543 )on SQL Server 2012 (v11.0.3000)

Thanks for your help.

This sounds like it's more a reporting services problem than a CRM one, as I don't think CRM will change any of the relevant report properties. My guess would be that it's an issue with the rendering to Word. Reporting Services does include some settings that are specific to the renderer, though I don't know of any that would cause this issue. I suggest asking in the Reporting Services forum

Thanks David. I'll try posting this issue on the SSRS forum.

This issue has been addressed for SQL Server 2012 and 2014 in some of the available Cumulative Updates:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/help/3081150/fix-orientation-setting-is-lost-when-you-export-a-report-to-a-word-doc

I've applied Service Pack 2 and Cumulative Update 11 to SQL Server 2012 (v11.0.3000) and this has fixed the problem. The Word renderer now correctly picks "A4" as the paper size in any landscape reports.
