What are the differences between the PO Cancel and the PO change request

Dears

Greetings for all, hope all of you doing well

Dears, I would like to know the differences and the effects of the two options of the PO, which are (Change request and cancel).

For the confirmed POs, we have options in the path (purchase order > maintain > change request and cancel) as attached. i just need to know when and why use these two options.

    It is very well documented over here Approve and confirm purchase orders - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    In short - if you use Active change management on a PO after the PO gets to the status Approved or Confirmed the only way to make a change to it is via the Request change button. The Cancel button on the other hand literally cancels the PO - i.e. undelivered quantities will be canceled and you won't be able to ship any goods for the PO.
