Hi guys,

How long normally when we Build all 3 model of Application Foundation, Suite and Platform ?

I'm using Hyper-V machine, my laptop is with 32GB RAM (20G allocated to the VM) and SSD drive.

Currently it's been running for around 3 hours, it is normal ?

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi ShaqAX,

What is the actual reason to build the standard models? I haven't done that since overlayering was blocked. It did take indeed a lot of time. Do you have the VM on the same SSD as your Windows operating system or do you have a second drive? A second drive apart from your host OS is a bit quicker. During the build, you can have a look at the system resources if there is a specific bottleneck.

    Hi,

The buid speed depends on your VM specs (SSD, HDD or RAM). That 3 models are big models so in my case with 128GB ram and SSD still took around 45mins to 1 hour to complete. In your case I think it is normal but you can still check if any throttling or system bottleneck from the Task manager? if it is still acceptable then you should wait.

    Thanks both.

Yeah actually there is no specific reason. It is just I just join to a new company, and setup a new Laptop + Development VM + SourceCode connection. I just thought I need to Build it together with my company's model. Refer to Andre's meaning these 3 should no need to compile (build) at all ?

For the Build, it is done after 3 hours, so a while after I finish writing this topic :)

You indeed don't need to build standard models. I'm aware of only one reason to do it - to update cross-references.

Also, pay attention to parameters of a build. For example, the best practice check takes a lot of time, therefore it's a good idea to disable it when you don't need it.
