Send notification email when email is "do not allow"

Hi,

We have a workflow to send emails when cases are opened and closed. The email gets sent to the contact. However if the contacts email preferences says "Do not allow" for Email, the email does not get sent even if this rule is not applied on the workflow. In system jobs, it goes to a waiting state. I have been told this is a OOB functionality. The Email preferences is used by our Marketing department to not send advertising emails, but our IT support would still like to send these notifications to keep the contact in the loop about cases.

Is there any way around this??

    Hi,

    short of creating a duplicate contact("service" contact.. which you can link to the main contact through a lookup.. or it can be a custom email-enabled entity) or changing the way marketing works(maybe give them another field and teach them to use that field when adding contacts to the marketing lists etc), I am not sure what other options you may have there.

    Not really.

    You have to set this preference to Allow in order for them to receive email using the default CRM options.

    You might be able to create another field that is Do Not Send Marketing materials, and control it internally for the marketing department either via a Workflow or Plugin.
