View 'Dynamics 365 (Preview)' content in web browser - which parameter to use?

Hi

my company is writing automated tests to cover web functionality and also want to write tests to cover desktop functionality - supplied through the new 'Dynamics 365 (Preview)' application.

It has not been possible to test against this app directly so we want to use the web browser instead, to give a similar view (remembering that the full web version differs from the desktop & offline version).

I understand that there is a parameter that can appended to the URL to force the browser to show content as it would appear in the Dynamics 365 (preview) app. Can someone tell me what this is? Ie browser would display a cut-down version of what it would normally display.

The app I'm talking about is https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/microsoft-dynamics-365-preview/9n0rwz9kzzt8?rtc=2&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks Dan

    Hi Partner,

You can append '&flags=FCB.PcfDatasetGrid%3Dfalse' behind URL to turn off new grid.

    Hi

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing.

The parameter should allow a web browser to mimic the 'Dynamics 365 (Preview)' desktop app (which I assume is just a wrapper for a specific web view). I tried the value you gave and behaviour is still different between the web browser and the desktop app - in particular I wanted to mimic the effect of certain Javascript controls being unavailable in the desktop app, but shown in the web app. Thanks Dan

Similar to this post, but I would like same functionality of desktop app (new 'Preview' edition) but displayed in browser: crmtipoftheday.com/.../

    Hi Dan_B_UK,

Maybe you can open the ticket with Microsoft and ask for support:

Just to feedback on this, I was given response from MS support to say "There is no way to test the Windows application (except by downloading it)". So any manual/automated testing of the desktop app needs to be done on the desktop app. Automation of the desktop app has been challenging so I was hoping that doing it in the browser might be possible but it seems not. Thanks Dan
