Rename Household using data from the Salutation field

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a way to bulk rename the "household" entity using the data contained in the "salutation" field.

Here's a breakdown of what's happened so far:

  1. We imported our data from another CRM into Dynamics Online.
  2. John Smith and Jane Smith are two different contacts
  3. John Smith is the name of the household; John Smith and Jane Smith are contacts in that household.
  4. Due to a miscommunication with the importing and exporting of data, the "Salutation" field for John Smith is "John and Jane Smith".  The same is true for Jane Smith.

Obviously, this is not ideal; the name of the household was supposed to be "John and Jane Smith".

Can anyone help me with creating either a bulk edit or a workflow or really any other option that will do the following:

  1. Find the salutation field in the contact ("Jane Smith")
  2. Rename the household that the contact is attached to, to the name listed in the salutation Field ("John and Jane Smith")
  3. Blank out the "Salutation" field

Thanks in advance for any help!

Joseph

I followed the Excel export/import method and it worked like a charm, took a matter of minutes.  Thank you Nadeeja for your suggestion and links to helpful documentation.

    Hi Joseph,

If you or have someone familiar with kingswaysoft SSIS, you can write a script to do the data fix.

If not, I would use Excel export import feature to fix the data. I would do it in batches of 250. You can change the max records you see in a view or advanced find by changing your personal settings.  You should be able to sort it out in few hours.

    Hi Joseph,

How many contact and household records do you have in the system?
