Scheduling subcontractors to the Services Calendar

I run a construction company and need to schedule subcontractors in my Service Calendar. Sounds like I should be able to BUT when I set up my Resource  Groups, my choices only include Facilities, Resource Groups, Users, etc. In other words, only resources inside or owned by my company. I need to assign outside resources to outside jobs.

I need to be able to assign my subcontractors (currently set up as Accounts...but can change that) to my Opportunities in the Calendar.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

As far as i know , sheduling canbe done only for Users, resource groups and facilities. I dont think we can schedule for accounts in MSCRM.

I'm in the preliminary stages of working with a charity where they will want to potentially schedule volunteers. My thinking at this point is to auto-create equipment entries for each one of them and add this to a resource group. I haven't tested whether disabled users can be scheduled for services but if they can this would also be an option. Leon Tribe Want to hear me talk about all things CRM? What I have done in the past is use the Facilities/Equipment entity as well, like Loren.  You can add the "Contractors" as Equipiment and then put them in a resource group for scheduling purposes.  It's not the best solution, but it does get the job done and it does it very well.

The reason I would refrain from adding Read-Only/Disabled user's to CRM is because of the ActiveDirectory account requirement and the fact that someone has to manage it.  As far as I can tell, if a user account is disabled you cannot add it to the resource group.  I'm also assuming that when you try to schedule that user, you would receive an error because of the User Account status, provided the scheduling wizard will show disabled users.
