RMS HQ (multiple stores) integration with Quickbooks

Can anyone recommend a company / module to integrate HQ (multiple stores) with Quickbooks? Anyone who's done this before please let me know how well (or not) it has been working? Or if another financial package is recommended.

We tried to integrate HQ with GP a couple years back and it was a nightmare, not going back there again...

Thanks!

    You can:

    • Post from each Store Operations database directly to QuickBooks mapped accounts
    • Post from HQ database via. an iif file export to QuickBooks mapped accounts with the solution from Jean Holland Group now All Points POS http://www.allpointpos.com/contact_us.html

Regarding the previous post I do appreciate what you are saying and agree with you in terms of personalizing exactly what I want, but I don't really have the time to go into details with QB's SDK and in any case would rather someone with experience and live installations customise something for us where necessary.

Mike, appreciate the help and I'm definitely interested. Luckily we sell in one currency and import in another so only bills need to be in a different currency but I had Jean customize her app a bit to convert the PO's to my local currency to then import in QB so we're not using multi-currency in QB. It's just not as clean as we don't have the original bill amounts from vendors, however, we have that included as a reference in the bill. Eventually I would like to use the multi-currency feature if there's a solution for QB to import iif files with mc support.

I'll drop you a line. A step ahead with a more automated solution would be nice.

    Thanks.

If you are using the Jean Holland link to HQ, then the output from HQ is only in US$ anyway. If you are using a separate link for each Store, and are using Sub-Classes in QB, then I guess you would need a way to deal with the currencies.

I am a long-time Retail and POS person, not really advanced in the Accounting aspect (because the owners of the stores I managed were Accounting majors, CEO of Deloitte & Touche, etc; so I did everything else but that!) so forgive me if I use some wrong terminology for QB.

The automated link is able to connect to any accounting system that has an import-export function, and has been used for almost all of the major ones in multiple countries, including to QB. It can connect to HQ, or to each store separately (up to 10). It runs on business logic rules, and can process every 30 seconds, but most people schedule it to run from once a day to hourly. I will ask if it has any way around the QB IIF multi-currency issue. Where are your stores and HQ?

I can send you info, call or e-mail me.

    Hi KP.

sounds to me like you have already gotten your hands diry before while attempting to integrate RMS to some other financial package. QuickBooks comes with its own SDK (which is readily available to anybody that owns QuickBooks). So my humble suggestion would be to simply take some time, go through the SDK, get to learn how to do it and I can assure you you will not be dissapointed. You will build a really robust integration solution that addresses your expectations if done personally.

     Peter.

Yep using QB. We are having some challenges with the imports involving multicurrency as iif file imports in QB do not support multicurrency unfortunately. Trying to work around this.

Out of curiosity what automated links are you referring to?

Yes, we work with her also, as well as some automated links.

I just got a notice that a post was made to this string and thought to ask about the GP/QB. Obviously you are using QB now!

After much research we actually did end up with Jean Holland Group. She's quite cooperative, price was right, and easy to work with.

So you own GP and are using it? Or was it at another company that you tried to integrate to it?
