Im setting up work centre in the manufacturing module. One of the requirements is to select location code that the work centre is associated to. The location code from the work centre card is empty meanwhile i have created many locations on the system.

Bin Mandatory is required for the Location to be visible in the Work Center drop down menu.  Any Location without Bin Mandatory are not visible in the drop down.  This is not a bug, it is by design as the system uses this information based on other setup choices in a Bin Mandatory Location.

If you do not use Bins, and Bin Mandatory is not set, you do not need to use the Location Code on the Work Center.

    Hello,

On the location card page, did you set the Bin Mandatory field to enabled?

    Thank you.

Do you expect the location to automatically populate on the work centre? This needs adding manually if so.

Or do you mean when you click on the drop down menu to pick a location, nothing is there? This is a bug.

For clarification, you don’t have to have a location code on the work centre. Imho, it makes sense to do so but it isn’t a requirement.

The location on a production order will be driven by planning if you use MRP, planning or order planning to create them. If you create a production order manually, You will need to add the location code to the prod order anyway. This prod order location will dictate the material consumption and output location/bin.

The location and bin codes on the work centre do allow you have consumption or output posted to or from a specific bin if the work centre is the first or last operation on the routing. That is the primary purpose of these fields.
