We need to create a sub-account 6401.01.01 under the general ledger account 6401.01, but there are already transaction records for 6401.01.
An error occurred during the creation as shown in the picture, has anyone encountered this before?

When creating, the system will check whether there are existing transactions for the account. If there are records for the account, the creation of a sub-account is not permitted. Therefore, this standard design cannot be modified.

    Solution:

Create new accounts and sub-accounts, transfer the balances from the original accounts to the new accounts, and then disable the previous accounts.

Thank you very much for everyone's help, thank you.

    Hi,

I was able to find the creation form by switching the company in my demo environment to a Chinese legal entity. The New button will then open this form. Then I checked the coding behind the warnings and can confirm that it indeed checks for existing transactions. I tried to bypass this validation by creating a new sub account from another account and changing the source. You then get another error when you click the OK button which is more clear.

    Hi,

    Which localizations do you use?

    Hi,
According to the warning message, you can try to check whether the sub-account you created is also an approver? Does the user group of the Approval field in General Ledger > Journal Settings > Journal Name include you or the sub-account you created?

Additionally, you can view documents for journal approval: Approve a journal | Microsoft Learn

    Best Regards,
    Hana

In the above image are the steps I took to create the sub-ledger account.

In the second image, at position â‘¡, normally the system would carry over 6401.01. However, it was truncated by the system, which resulted in position â‘  being disabled.

I was informed by the consultant that because there are transaction records for 6401.01, the creation of a sub-account is not allowed. However, this response seems quite unbelievable to me.

    Hi,

Can you share the exact steps on how to open a form and start the creation of this sub-account? To me, this form is not familiar. I heard about a hierarchy for main accounts as part of Chinese regulations. Is this for a Chinese Chart of Accounts?
On the screenshot, I don't see an error, only 2 warnings. Is this blocking you from actually creating a new account?
