SysTableLookup potential & How to display different fields from different tables in single lookup

Hi everyone,
 
I'm new to D365 X++ and have a few questions about implementing lookups. I’d really appreciate your guidance:
 
  • What are the limitations of using SysTableLookup, particularly when working with multiple data sources?
  • Is it possible to add parameters from different data sources to a single SysTableLookup?
  • I've come across forms using SysMultiTableLookup. What is it, and how is it used?
  • Is using SysMultiTableLookup considered best practice, or are there better alternatives?

    The query used by SysTableLookup may include multiple tables (for filtering), but only data from a single table will be returned. As a workaround, you can design a view returning data from multiple tables and use this view in SysTableLookup. Another option is utilizing display methods (but you should keep performance in mind).
     
    SysMultiTableLookup is a class that supports multiple tables. It's not a part of standard F&O; read it more about it in D365FO: SysMultiTableLookup - dynamic lookups based on multiple tables.
