Using the prices and discounts for the Sell to customer and not the bill to customer.

Hi Everyone,

Our sales department has wishes for a setup were our customer get billed all to the same customer card but the customer has several locations in the same chain but these locations can have different discounts depending on their size. By default BC seems to take the discount from the set Bill to customer. Is there a way to set it for the sell to customer to be the one that dictates the discount on an order?

Thank you!

For distinct, ongoing discounts based on "Sell-to Customer" (locations in a chain) while billing a single "Bill-to Customer," using Campaigns is not the standard or best solution.

    Campaigns are for temporary promotions.

The correct and most practical approach is to set Sales Prices and Line Discounts directly on the individual "Sell-to Customer" cards, with the "Bill-to Customer No." populated on those cards. This leverages standard Business Central functionality for permanent, hierarchical pricing.

Hi, Can you use campaign to decide the discount? This does not require customization and is a standard feature.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hello,

In the standard functionality it would not be possible because the discounts are assigned on the customer.

To solve this, you could have 2 ways:

    - Create each customer and associate a each location.

    - Make a customization that allows you to adjust to your requirement.

I hope I can help you.

    Regards,

    Hello,

If you don't want to go with customization then  yes, in standard Business Central, you can handle this scenario by setting up different Sell-to Customer cards for each location in the chain, each with their own specific prices and discounts, while using a common Bill-to Customer for invoicing. Although the invoice goes to the Bill-to Customer, discounts and pricing are always determined by the Sell-to Customer on the sales order. So, Business Central already supports your need: just maintain individual Sell-to Customer records per location with appropriate discount setup (via customer price/discount groups or directly on the customer), and the system will apply the correct discount based on the location placing the order - even if billing is centralized.

Hope this will give you some hints!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni
