Hi,
A new customized field was created successfully through personalization and inserted on the form (inventory movement journal lines), but data is not being saved in this field. Need urgent help on this matter.

No. it never worked. However, it does take entry into, but erase the value at the time of saving or posting.
Please also note that the additional field was created at line level in inventory dimension table instead of inventory journal lines table. However, i found new solution after submission of this post as under.
Actually i would like to create some additional fields in inventory journal table to fulfill business needs. I can see the inventory journal at header level where i can easily get my objective and I did check in test instance as well. Now my question is whether there is any harm of creating additional fields at header level.
Please respond on urgent basis.

When you mentioned that the issue was due to having a field added on the inventory dimensions, then it is indeed explainable. The inventory dimension records are not directly saved. It tries to find existing records with the same combination. If that is not available, it will create a new record without being aware of a custom field.
You can add fields on the header if you need to have it. This will work. To be aware of any caveats, you can read my blog: Custom fields: Handle with care (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations) (dynamicspedia.com)
