Securities: Is it possible to remove / hide menu items in a module

Hi Community

Is it possible to remove some menu items from a modules display? The client is concerned that if a user makes use of these options, that this prevents specific mandatory logic to trigger.

The menu items I am trying to remove are in Sales and marketing > Sales quotations> Quotation update. (all menu items to be removed)

The display of menu items is controlled by security. Users that don't have permissions to use a menu item don't see it in the menu at all.

Hi Martin, unfortunately they can see it with their edit access to sales quotations. It is automatically included it seems

One explanation (the correct one, I believe) is that you assigned more privileges than you actually want.

Also, sometimes existing privileges aren't granular enough and you need to create a new one with just those permissions you need, but I don't believe this is the case.

For example, "Send quotation" is controlled by "Update quotation status to confirmed" privilege (AOT name SalesQuotationEditLinesForm_P_Process). Removing this privilege doesn't prevent users from accessing sales quotations.

Thank you Martin. When I remove all those privileges that allow access to the menu items, it also removes it from the Sales Quotation form itself. Seems like you cannot let one go without the other. Thanks for your answers however

What exactly do you mean by "all those privileges"? It sounds like you remove more than you wanted. You should identify the privileges you want to remove and remove just those. Start with the one I already identified.

    Hi Michelle,

If you removed the privilege "Maintain sales quotation details", then indeed you did remove a lot of menu items, including access to the Sales quotation page. If you need less menu items in such privilege, you can copy the existing one and remove not wanted menu items or create a new privilege and add permissions for the menu items which should be visible to the users.

It does not work if only the one is removed. I attempted to also remove

    -Process lost quotations

    -Send quotations

    -Update quotation status to canceled

    -Update quotation status to confirmed

But then it gives the result as above

Hi Andre, thank you very much.

I think the permissions for the module menu items and their corresponding buttons on the quotation form, make use of the same permissions.

E.g. Sales and marketing > Sales quotations > Quotation update (all menu items listed)

And then on the All quotations list page - Follow-up tab: Generate: Confirm / Cancel / Lost quotation

    Hi Michelle,

That is correct. Many sales quotation related pages are part of the same privilege. Were you able to create a new privilege to get the desired result?

Unable to mark the response from Andre as the suggested answer - see comment from on 04 Apr 2023 at 16:38:56 - This works, however I have found in some cases it helps to add a menu item and to then deny access to forms/buttons that should be hidden. "Give access in order to take it away". Thank you for you help as always Andre!
