Track emails but do not add attachments

We've recently transitioned over to CRM online (about 6 months) and are quite surprised how quickly we burned through our 4 gb of storage.

My guess is the culprit is e-mail attachments (we track all emails by default and most of them have our signatures).

We want to be able to track emails, but we do not need attachments in CRM. Our email is hosted on exchanged, and our hold policy is 5 years. Any attachments we might need we could find there.

In Settings > Administration I set the maximum attachment size to 0. However, after doing that I kept getting errors during email sync. Additionally, I think I read somewhere that this file size limitation affects not only email but web parts (?).

So how can we keep tracking emails but NOT attachments? I feel like this should be a simple fix.

    Hi,

There is no way of configuring CRM to not track attachments, but you can easily remove attachments after the email is tracked. Jason has a nifty workflow activity to do this - see crm2011internalemail.codeplex.com

This will work for CRM2013 on-line as well.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
