FTT + Purchasing Transactions

Good Day,

We ran FTT for Commitments. It was cancelled a couple of times due to the length of time it was taking. I let the process run to completion (results were over 131,000+ records summarized). I was curious if FTT would take the same amount of time to process again (against the same period) so started it again right away. Currently it's into it's first hour, which leads me to believe it's going through all the records again. Is this normal behaviour? Secondly, I read an article about running DB maintenance for views/triggers/ etc to reindex the table. I'm wondering if this will help (in that if this is normal behaviour would it be a waste of effort).

Any suggestions/insights?
