Unable to generate Report in Dynamics SL

Posted on by

Hello,

I have two companies in SL. They both work well.

Some attempts were made to create a test database and this had to be removed.

Thereafter I have not been able to generate reports from one of my companies. The main company can generate reports, but the second company cannot generate reports.

I have run the synchronize security in database maintenance but i am still unable to print reports. I get the below error. Only the SSRS reports can print.

Any ideas?

Hi Butch, yes i ran the update views but they still cant generate the report. I saw someone write something about running this in SQL but i am not sure of the implications of same.

    DELETE FROM RPTExtra

Hi Rick, apparently one report is working but all others aren't working. I will try the odbc and let you know.

Did you run the update views when you dropped the failed test database? The Vendor Code 229 means Crystal can't get to the data. So if it is not related to ODBC like Rick said, then it could be a renant of the test database info you dropped.

The reports with the .rpt extension are written in Crystal Reports and those reports connect to the database via ODBC.  If all such reports in that database are giving this error then the first thing to try would be to recreate the ODBC connection to the database.  to do that, utilize the ODBC (data sources) found under your Windows Administrative menu and delete the ODBC connection to that database.  Then try to run one of the failing reports and Crystal Reports should create the ODBC connection over again.

This error can have many causes beyond the above.  But, the fact that you are saying it occurs with all reports in that database tends to rule out an issue with the actual report definition.

Your image of the error is not coming across on the post.  You may want to just type the error information.
