How should we handle Report Viewer limitation

ReportReport

Hi all,

With the coming changes of Default Report viewer for D365, which is a PDF viewer and mostly it is within page size limit (A4), how we should overcome this ? There are numbers of report which we only want to see it on screen and we do not need under a page by means we want it to be spread horizontally as we can always scroll to right.

Has anyone facing issue with this ? or how to make the paper size to be bigger, probably as big as it can.

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

RE: How should we handle Report Viewer limitation

    Hi,

No, I haven't got feedback yet. I will inform once I get that.

The version that has this issue is 10.0.9 (10.0.383.20015) with Platform Update33, while my own VM actually has no problem and it is 10.0.8 (10.0.319.10005) Update32.

One suspect is because we just implemented SelfDeploy, although I my self not really understand that since it is not my handling. So it is either because of that or because of the Update33.

Will get back to this forum.

    Thanks,

    Hello WWwong,

What D365FO version do you operate? are you on the latest platform update?

Have you already received a feedback from the MS about the ticket that you opened?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

RE: How should we handle Report Viewer limitation

    Hi again,

As I look again at the menu provided for us to disable/enable Preview using Embedded, there are few things which confuse me.

    8863.Capture2.PNG

    1. If I disable "Preview using Embedded" I will loose the Print to screen options. My old report with "cache" still print to Screen can run, but it will throw error and back to PDF. If I'm enable the "Preview using Embedded", Print to screen obviously iwill open PDF. Seems there is no way we can have that HTML mode again.

    2. While in Documents clearly saying Drill-thru not supported, there is a switch to have that Drill-thru feature in PDF, but it is disable. How to switch it on ?

But then again, my intention is still wants to use HTML viewer since there are a  lot of report meant to have many columns spread horizontally, Financial report mostly has many columns spread in 1 line which looks terrible if it is breaks into next page.

    Thanks,

RE: How should we handle Report Viewer limitation

    Hi Dr.Ludwig,

We're still investigating this issue, even raise a ticket.  I did tried that, and actually there is a code to automatically redirect to PDF, even after we switch off. And the reason we raising a ticket and why I'm asking also because I've been informed that in the 'near' future, all of report will be using PDF viewer. So I want to know how to resolve the page limitation while actually we don;t need that.

Another thing is, there are a lot of limitation, the biggest thing is the missing of Hyperlink and Expand collapse feature. How to resolve that when in the future we're forced to use PDF viewer ?

    Thanks,

    Hello WWwong,

Would your issue be solved if you simply switch off the PDF viewer and come back to the previous viewer experience that was already available in earlier system versions?

If so, have a look at the following site that details how to switch on/off this viewer.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../preview-pdf-documents

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
