    Gilbert,

You may want to consider setting up destination based taxes.  This will allow you to configure a specific tax per-customer vs per-item.  RMS will allow you to define a default or "Walk-up" tax to charge all customers for, but then will allow you to pick a field in a customer record, and will then use the tax that matches that field, when a customer is selected.  So if you choose Custom Text 5 and put in "5% Tax" on customer 1234, then create a new tax with the title "5% Tax".  When you set customer 1234 for a transaction, RMS will use the proper tax.

This is a quick overview, and may not fully solve your problems.  If you need more information, check out the help guide for RMS Manager and navigate to Manager Program -> Reference -> File Menu -> Configuration options -> Sales Tax tab".  You can always give your RMS reseller or our support team at RITE a call for more information as well!
