Hi,

How can I give a user access to Tools -> Routines -> Batch Recovery window? Which security role or task ID I need to give access to so that the user can access the batch recovery window?

Thanks.

    RE: access to batch recovery

    Hi Andy,

thanks for the quick reply! yes I had actually realized after I posted my reply that you were more active now on the BC (dark) side of the business ... I'll check more community entries and if I can't find any useful response, I'm going to open a support case with the GP Team.. It never occured to me that no one else than 'sa' would be able to actually see the batches in recovery mode..

    Have a great time!

Hi Beat!!!  I moved to the Business Central support team about 5 years ago.  I would recommend opening a support ticket for the GP team to assist.

    Andy Sather

I've an addtionnal question related to the batch recovery window.. The user does have the permissions set (because being assigned to the ADMIN_ACCT_MGR  role) to open the Batch Recovery window.. but can't see any of the stuck batches. It was confirmed by another user that has access to the form too, but couldn't see a stuck GL batch that required to be edited.

When login with 'sa', the batch recovery form lists the stuck batch and you can select it and then click the process button to recover the batch.

Both other user can then edit the GL batch again..  Why can a normal user not recover batches ? what is missing to make this working with regular GP users ?

    RE: access to batch recovery

    Hi Maanas,

You can tailor a specific Security Task and assign it to a specific Security  Role to get this done.

In the Security Task Setup window create a new Task, select GP for Product, Windows for Type and then Company for Series. Mark the Batch Recovery window in the Access List.

Once done, assign the Task you created to a new Role.  Then assign the new role to the users you want to have access to this.

Let me know if you have further questions.

I would not recommend assigning the Role of Accounting Manager at all, this might also come with a lot of other grants which will result with a security breach in Dynamics GP such as (accounts, revaluation ...etc)

The best way to do this is to create a new task to be assigned to a new role specifically for "Batch Recovery", which will ensure that no breach would occur !

Thanks this website is a great help in targeting the task and where it is assigned.

    Re: access to batch recovery

You could also just create your own task called "*BATCH_RECOVERY" and then only assign the Batch Recovery window. The window is located under:

    Product: Microsoft Dynamics GP

    Type: Windows

    Series: Company

    Operations: Batch Recovery

    Re: access to batch recovery

You can use the Role ACCOUNTING MANAGER* or task ADMIN_COMPANY_011* to grant access to batch recovery window.

Please note that  assigning this role to user will also give him access to lot of other windows.

You can use the following website find the roles for a particular window.
