Business Central editing system permission sets

Hello,

Within permission sets, I know you can drill down to see whether the permission is read/ write/ modify/delete, etc.  But is there a way to EDIT the read/insert/modify/delete, etc. permissions from 'Yes' to 'No'?  I currently have a user assigned a Team Member license and they can still see all the company financial tables when searching.  I need to limit this permission to only time entry and a few read only tables.  Is this possible with system permissions or do I need to create custom ones?  I'm currently logged in as a user/user group/permission administrator and the only thing I can do is create new permissions or assign existing.  But I cannot edit existing.  Help!!

You have to make a copy of the Permission Set, effectively creating a "Custom Permission Set", then you can edit that. You cannot edit the standard Permission Sets in Business Central. When you create your Custom Permission Set MS asks you if you would like to be notified if changes are made to the Standard Permission Set you are copying from... say yes, because you never know if in the future MS makes changes to the standard, say adding a new Table. If they do you would then need to add it manually to your Custom Permission Set, or make a copy again and then make your changes.

Thank you!  I saw that option to copy permission set a few minutes after posting this.  I'm glad you were able to verify this is the correct process.  I can now edit.  It is still very difficult knowing what tables to edit since the System Team Member permission is showing over 1000 related tables.  Not the most straightforward process!

Yes, it is a brutal process for sure... if you are BC on-premise at least you can see the Object Designer and see Tables numbers, Names, etc.... if you are BC in the cloud, it is a little more difficult.

Do you know how to remove the ribbon for permissions?  I don't want our team members to be able to drill down into any financials

You can try removing the related Page permission (Chart of Accounts, GL Entry, etc). They can't go into any Financials that way.

Are you referring to the 'Read' permissions within permission sets?  Not seeing an actual related page permission.

Normally it is under 'D365 BASIC' or 'BASIC' permission set. If you assign user to these permission set, they have access to all pages.

You can create a copy of the permission set, remove all the financial pages, and assign it to specific user.
