RMS 2.0 Manager and POS Not Connect to database

Hi,

We just purchased RMS 2.0 to use as stand alone for now, running  with SQL Express 2005, on an old PC with XP Pro SP3. 

I CAN connect to local server create database in admin. 

I CANNOT open Manager, won't connect to server.

I CAN launch POS after clicking through "cannot connect to server" message a couple of times, but then none of the functions work. 

Please help with where I should begin.  Is the POS even connected?

*And will RMS 2.0 with SQL 2008 R2 run on Windows 7 basic/Home edition?

    RMS needs to be setup / configured correctly. You may need support from a Microsoft RMS partner or you can also contact Microsoft.

    Hello,

    Windows 7 Home premium is not supported for use with RMS. This may be the cause of your issues. I recommend working with your Microsoft Certified Partner to check over your RMS settings to make sure everything looks alright.

    Can you connect in Admin under File | Connect and then again in File | Configuration | Test?

    While RMS does work with any version of Windows, the only versions supported by MS are XP Pro, Vista Biz, Win7 Pro, in other words the business versions of Windows.

    Vince,

    That's not what I asked.  

    After you connect in File | Connect, you must also do a File | Configuration | Test.  If you don't complete this step, you will not be able to connect through Manager or POS

    I missed understood your question.  I'm not able to complete File | Configuration | Test.  The problem is the user name.  The user name I used doesn't seem to work.

    Can you advise on where or how to add or change user name.

    I'm able to create a valid user name using SQL Mgmt Studio Express.  Now I'll have to populate the database.
