GP Custom Reports

Our company in GP was copied from our UK parent company during the initial set-up.  Our parent company had many custom reports within GP and our company only uses a few.  Is there a way to tell which custom reports are currently being used so that we can delete the obsolete ones?  We could eye-ball the reports but we are afraid of deleting a report that we use.

I don't think it is possible. Are you printing your reports from custom reports window?

    Hi Brian

Do you have GP Power Tools - Administrator Module?

The Security Log activity tracking will be able to tell you which reports are being used.

You just need to activate it and let it gather statistics for a month or so and then you should have your answer.

    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

Custom reports are usually not company specific.. unless you're using the Word Templates..

GP embedded reports are hold in the REPORTS.DIC file, which in case there are customized reports, may have been renamed to server the purpose of differentiating custom reports for multiple companies.. but this is usually not the case in a regular setup.

Check your DYNAMICS.SET launch file to see where your REPORTS.DIC points (local or network share).

In GP, the list of all customized reports can be found under :

Main menu > Tools > Customize > Customization Maintenance

As David pointed out, GPPT could help you identify which custom reports are really used in the new company.. unless you're going around to each & every user to find out.

You could look at which reports are included in the Alternate/Modified Forms & Reports IDs and see if any of those are assigned to a user.
