Management Reporter - Base Year

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have recently migrated several reports from FRx to MR, with varying degrees of success.  For all the reports, we have a problem with the drop-down list of Base Years for report generation in the Report Definition window.  The company has a fiscal date of 5/31.  We are on a test system, but the company database has been restored since that date, the fiscal year 2015 has been set up for the company, and transactions have been entered.  However, the Base Year dropdown list only offers years through 2014, so we cannot generate any reports for the current fiscal year 2015.  We have recreated the Data Mart and stopped and started the services.

How do we resolve this issue?  We are due to go live shortly, but cannot until we can print the necessary reports.

The recommendations (updating the fiscal years of all companies and reconfiguring the Data Mart integration) resolved the issue.  Thank you.

RE: Management Reporter - Base Year

I understand Management Reporter CU 8 stand-alone Reports show the expected  Base Year of 2015 but the main reports stop at 2014.

Please verify the Column Definition Fiscal Year/Period/Start and End Date to verify the Report Definition formatting is referencing the appropriate dates.

If  the Test Company data has been refreshed on the test environment the Data Mart integration will need to be reconfigured using the following steps to pull the updated data.

Reconfigure the Dynamics Data Mart integration.

    1. Start the MR Configuration Console.

    2. Under ERP Integrations , select the Dynamic Data Mart integration.

    3. Click Remove to remove the integration.

    4. In SQL Management Studio, delete the DDM database.

    5. In the MR Configuration Console, click File and then click Configure .

    6. Select Add Microsoft Dynamics Data Mart and then click Next .

    * Select Enable on the Initial Integration

RE: Management Reporter - Base Year

The structure is: one main company with most of the reports, some with trees, some without.  There are 7-8 independent operating companies, and 3-4 old backups of the main company.  All of the companies now have the 2015 fiscal year set up in GP.  The independent companies' stand-alone Report Designs now show 2015 as the Base Year, but the main company reports all still stop at 2014 as Base Year, even the ones with no trees.

The Data Mart Integration Log shows no errors.

The system is MR 2012, version 2.1.8001

RE: Management Reporter - Base Year

    Hello Robert,

Did verifying the default company was the expected company with the matching Fiscal Period in Dynamics GP change any of the results?

Another option if using the Data Mart Integration verify if there are errors in the Management Reporter > Configuration Console > Logs > Data Mart integration.  Please respond back with the text of any errors.

Make sure the company you are running the report for is the one selected in MR.  If you are consolidating and using a tree - all companies need to be set up with the same fiscal year, other wise it will error out because it wont's see the year(s) in the other company(ies).
