Workflow that fetches information from one entity (account) and writes in another (salesorder)

Hi everyone,
I have another beginner question and hope it's not already solved here (didn't find it at least).

I want to create a workflow that is triggered when a certain field is changed (email contact ; entity=account), which is not the problem.
What I need is, that certain information from the account I'm actualy in (where the email is changed),

is copied into another entity (salesorder) which is connected with the account.

My idea was: Entity=account : trigger when field is changend. - but then i need another process with->

Entity=salesorder:Then update record -> but how do i get those information .. afaik, i can't refer to the process with the other entity.

Hope it makes sense.

Marius

You need to click on yes for any above helpful answers .

Rawish Kumar , thank you as well, I'll have to look it up, using code here. Didn't do it before, but I think it will help me later solving other problems as well.

I work with Dynamics CRM for about 2 month now and it didn't came up for me until now!

I really appreciate your help and thanks for the link!

"If my understanding is correct you can access only parent entity record which relates as lookup reference with the target entity.."

thank you, I think there is the problem for me - I used child workflows before, which are good to handle when you stay in the same entity!

I'm not used to plugins or custom workflows yet. But have to go there I think!

Addition to my suggestion above . You can only use child workflow on your parent entities and not on child.

So as Goutam mentioned if you are familiar with code go for custom workflow or a plugin.

    Hi Marius ,

What I understand , that when you change field value in Account you want to update child/Sales order entity with the information of account .If my understanding is correct you can access only parent entity record which relates as lookup reference with the target entity(The entity which triggers workflow) using workflow.

But you can not access child entity records using OOB workflow. In this scenario you can go for plugin or custom workflow.

    Hi Marius,

I am not sure if i understood correctly. But Child workflow is something which should help you.
