How can I show a related field on a form

I want to show a related field on a form in the same way as you can in a view.  For example in the Contach form I want to show some information that is from the Related Account.  For example I might want to show some of the address fields, such as the City.

I know how to do it via Workflows populatine read only field in the Contact record but I was wondering if there was a simpler method.

So if there is a 1:N relationship between the two entities, you can create a Quick View form for the parent entity and then put that Quick View form on the child entity.

for example, let's say you want an Account's address and phone number to show up on the Contact record without copying data.  You could go to the Account entity, make a Quick View form, add the address and phone number, then save and publish the Account.  Then go to the contact form, and add the Account quick view you just created.  Now when you open a Contact, the Account info will show up, and always be up-to-date since it's pulling directly from the parent.

I just noticed that you tagged this CRM 2011.  I didn't notice that before.  My suggestion only works with CRM 2013 and 2015.

For 2011, you'll have to deal with workflows, or if you only care on display, some JavaScript.

Thanks, JavaScript is beyond me so I will stick with the workflows until we upgrade.  Many thanks for your ideas though.

There is a good codeplex for doing CRM2013/2015 quick view style forms in CRM2011 - crm2011lookuppreview.codeplex.com

    Hope this helps,

Many thanks, but your solution is beyond my skills.  I am an accidental manager of our CRM.  My day job is in Offshore Renewable Energy.

I know it's been years but, What if I'm trying to achieve that but on the 1 side of the 1:N relationship ? So in your example, I need the Account Form to show me its related Contacts.
