Merging accounts acting strangely

Hi,

I am trying to merge two accounts from Advanced find window. I get the data merge form, with the normal warning about how the subordinate record will be deactivated etc. After I click "OK", I get a new pop-up about how the merge is going to be run asynchronously in the background. I click OK to that, and...nothing happens. No merge, no deactivation, no error message, no contacts etc transferring from subservient account to master account. Nothing in 3 hours. Is there a problem, and if so, where could it be?

    Could you please check the system jobs? It should display this record:

    Hi,

    Could you please verify system jobs under settings to check the status of the merge operation.

    Since this is an async operation status will not be available on UI, you need to check system jobs to check the status.

    Thank you for the pointer! Merge had failed because of tangled child/parent account relationships.
