Hi Experts,
Is there a way to get a detailed error message from CRM Online?
Issue: Creating an Address (customeraddress) record from a tool called Master Data Maestro (MDM) is failing with a very generic error message "Load Dynamics CRM: An unexpected error occurred."
We are able to create the record through a console app though without any issues and not able to reproduce the issue.
We are looking to find a detailed error in order to rectify the issue.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,
We just have the error message logged in the event log where the tool is installed. Also , the same error message is shown in an alert to us.
What I am looking for is a way to send a detailed error message to the client from CRM online.
Also, as suggested by Yadynesh , I would try enabling the plugin trace log but I don't think that would be of any help as there are no plugins registered for the customer address entity.
Please suggest any way for sending out a detailed error message from CRM as we are not able to reproduce the error when creating the record through a console app or through an SSIS integration for creating records from excel spreadsheet file.
Hi
Are you able to download the error log and let me have a look at this?
Hi,
Try below: Go to Settings > Administration > System Settings > Customization Tab > Plugin Trace Log > All.

Hi Yadnyesh,
Yes, the error seems to be due to the mapping or something that is from the MDM tool, but what our integration team is asking for is a way for CRM to provide a more detailed error message rather than the generic "Load Dynamics CRM: An unexpected error occurred" message. The tool logs the same error message to the Event Log on the machine on which it is installed.
Is there any configuration setting for CRM Online to send out a more detailed error message to the client?

Hi Palani,
As you are saying you are able to create the record through console app without any issues, it means there is no issue at CRM end i.e. no issues in plugins or workflows. But when you use Third party tool, you are getting errors, so scope of error can be narrowed down to the tool. Tool seems to be causing the problem. Can you check if your third party tools does any logging? You should be able to get error details in the logs itself.
Additionally, you can to to Settings > System Jobs and check if there are any failures which are related to your operation.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your response. This is a third party data integration tool which has an adapter for dynamics CRM. Our integration team is using it to create Address records in CRM online using data from a database table. They are able to update the address records without any issues, but creating a record fails with the unexpected error message.

Palani
Hi Palani
Can you give us some idea on what you are trying to do? Is this a data import or a 3rd party solution that reads data into CRM?
