For microsoft programmers: General Network Error.. Solution

Can you guys fix the General Network Error ? when a connection goes down ? what the hell is wrong with you guys, doing GET DATE() every 5 seconds to see if a connection is up, is one thing, but CRASHING when it's not is plain stupid., why bother with the test if you ain't acting on it... if you can' t use a TRY command in whatever language is used to write this patched up spageti , then i guess you could just retry every 1 minute until connection is back, but CRASH ? really ?

can't wait for RMS Next Gen.. <grin> i think that AX code base is better then RMS,

    Its looking to see if there is a connection to the Server every 5.  If every minute, how would you like to finish a 20 line sale and fail when posting cause it was only checking every minute.

    The "CRASH" is really just setting you up to go into Offline mode.

    Be careful what you wish for.  Even the Microsoft pop-up stores are having issues;

    i get an error and the application exits... that's not really a nice exception catch in a coders'view..

    would you write software that CRASHES ? if you have a lag in network connections , like even my FTP wont crash if i unplug switch for 10 secs... and reconnect

    If you lose SQL connection, POS "crashes". When you re-start POS, If the SQL connection is back, it will open regularly, if not its Offline mode for you and you have a Blind Closed batch to deal with too.

    FTP is a _completely_ different situation.  If my pencil breaks, the paper will still be ready for a new one.  Is that similar too? ;-)
