Adding Checkbox to Counting Journal List Page

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a requirement to add a checkbox to the Counting Journal list page in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. The objective is that when this checkbox is checked, it should prevent the end user from opening the journal to check the details, and instead display an error message.

Has anyone encountered a similar requirement or worked on a similar customization before?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, insights, or advice on how to implement this functionality effectively.

Do you have any question for us?

Are you saying that you don't know how to add a field to a table? Or you know how to add the field and how to throw an error but you don't know where to put the logic? Or something else?

All the requirements are easy my main issue how do i add logic or where to prevent the user from open the journal.

What is the business requirement that you've decided to address by this particular implementation? Knowing that will likely clarify many questions.

Which exact step do you mean by "opening the journal"?

Who is "the user"? All users? Users in a particular user role?

Hi Martin,

The requirement is the checkbox should be checked/unchecked by integration from Azure Logic App but when checkbox is checked no one including Admin user can open the Counting Journal until integration process complete and checkbox become uncheck again so all users can open the counting journal.

Hi There,

Have you tried using the private for user group field?

This can be set when the journal is created, either automatically by Journal name, or via your integration.

Once you have completed your integration tasks remove the entry from the private for user group field and everyone should have access.

Good day Hisham,

Dynamics automatically sets the parameter 'In use' to 'yes' when someone creates a counting journal

If other user tries to update the counting journal, Dynamics returns an error.

I think an customization is not needed.

Hi all,

The requirement is to disable access for any counting journal, with users receiving an error message until the integration process is completed. Please note, I am not referring to disabling access for currently created journals as they are already managed by D365 FO.

I would appreciate any technical ideas or solutions regarding this matter.
